Excerpt From Strike Of The Cobra – @StephenHeubach

As Daniel stood and looked at the screen to see his boarding time, a wave of uncertainty came over him, one he could not really justify.

With nobody to whom he could sensibly discuss his worries, the situation in his mind started to escalate.

strikeDaniel was now seriously concerned as to where he was going to end up. “This is very remote for a boat factory,” he commented. “Well actually you realise that I am kidnapping you,” came the matter-of-fact answer. There was no trace of a smile or humour in Han’s voice. Daniel’s mind raced in a number of directions at once. His heart sank and he was overcome with a wave of nausea.”

As the minutes of silence ticked by and the road became more and more bumpy, Daniel started to sweat, though he was trying not to show it. He began trying to memorize the road since getting off the ferry, and which turnings they had taken.

Again, the thought of drugs went through Daniel’s mind and a new sense of unease crept over him. In what way was he being used, and for what?

However, much as he told himself not to, his mind could not help reverting to the thought that he was involved with something far greater than just boat building, and that he could be in some sort of danger.

As Daniel walked past she smiled at him and said. “Good afternoon sir, welcome to British Airways. Can I ask you if you are carrying anything for anybody else?” “Good afternoon. No, I am not” Daniel said with a smile. As he was stepping into the elephant’s trunk leading to the aircraft, he realised what an odd question this was to be asked at this stage of boarding. In all the many hundreds of flights he Daniel had done in his lifetime he did not ever recall being asked such a question by one of the airline flight crew upon boarding. He missed a step as an unpleasant thought occurred to him, immediately followed by a wave of nausea.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise are waiting outside the aircraft doors, would you please all ensure that you have your passport readily available for inspection as you exit the aircraft. Thank you.”
