About the series

‘At Catnap stories, we love learning, travelling and meeting new friends and we hope the children who read these stories will too’.

In a trilogy of magnificently illustrated stories, Vince the Cat is underway on a group of adventures to see the world on his faraway travels, but he wants to bring you too!

Developed with the same love and inspiration your young ones will feel when they read them, each book harnesses the mischievousness of cats as well as an ode to the wonder of cultural difference and importance of foreign languages. Vince provides the opportunity for children to see bedtime stories as an avenue to dream bigger and travel farther, with an educational twist that can inspire growing minds to learn more about the world, and even be motivated to learn a new language.

The series is aimed for children aged 6-11, but the treasure of travel is too fantastic, so whether you be the parent who reads or an older child who just wants to get away, these stories will not disappoint any culture craving.

Characters, including Vince, have been based off real people, and as you may predict, real cats! Even better still, the adventures are inspired off true experiences – ‘we may have changed the names of some to protect their identities!’

About the Author

Heidi Bryant was born and is residing in Kent. She first discovered her love of languages in school at Fort Pitt Grammar where she learnt French, German, and Spanish, going on to receive an honours degree in Modern Languages at the Open University. Dissatisfied with just one degree, Heidi undertook and successfully achieved a master’s degree in Translation at London’s Metropolitan University, soon qualifying as a translator working on many documents and numerous subjects. Most recently she has translated a book about Ibiza – due out soon.

Post losing her beloved cat Mikki to old age in Summer 2018, it was this devastation that turned into inspiration for Catnap Stories and creating adventure stories with the memory of Mikki in mind, and as a constant source for creativity, which is where cats as the main characters first blossomed.

From a young age Heidi has been a lover of reading. One of her favourites was called ‘The Lonely House’, one she read time and time again! The Roald Dahl books she has read in full, as well as the series ‘Gobbolino the Witch’s cat’.

With a love for travel and an advocate for learning and embracing languages, Heidi combined her passions in Summer 2018 by writing these creative stories for children to take to their hearts. It is one of her greatest hopes to inspire children to see the world as she has, and to understand more about the languages, cultures and customs of other countries which continue to influence us, all contained within the beautiful illustrations that partner these books.
