About the author
John Hughson was born in St. Andrews, Scotland in 1945 where his father was a coastguard. The family moved to Aberdeenshire where John went to school, however his father’s promotion took them to Lerwick, Shetland, so he left school and joined the Merchant Navy. For the next 15 years John saw many seaports around the world.
John later married and, for the next 13 years, had a variety of jobs including experimental salmon fishing using a hydrofoil called hopping mad. After the breakdown of his marriage and subsequent divorce, John tried to make a living travelling around writing short stories and odd jobbing where possible. On one of his ventures he was arrested in Argentina on suspicion of being a spy - but that’s another story (soon to be published).
John became a part time docker for the last few years of his working life, then retired at 60 years of age.
Following his retirement, John discovered a rough version of Vernon the Vegetarian Lion that he had written some time ago and decided to 'clean it up', and get it published.
This is John’s first published book – it will not be the last.
