Peter Widdows - Incorporated Evil

July 31, 2014

1. First and foremost, could you give us a short introduction as to who Peter Widdows is?

Peter Widdows is 48 years old and lives in North Cheshire with his Australian partner, Louise, and their Bernese Mountain Dog, Lily. At 44 peter decided to retire from his corporate role as a CEO for food company, Heinz, covering a large part of Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. His responsibilities covered $2.2billion in revenue and 18,500 employees, and the vast geography meant that he spent 90% of his time away from home.

Now semi-retired, he still maintains involvement as a Non-Executive Director in a couple of companies and manages some other interests directly.

Peter spent 5 years in the British Army and qualified as a Chartered Accountant, before joining Heinz, where he worked for 17 years.

Born in Manchester, he has lived in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Germany and spent a significant amount of time working in China, Thailand, Hong Kong and Korea. He now shares his time between the UK and Austria, where he follows his love of skiing and where the mountain tranquillity facilitates his writing.

Even though he has spent almost all of his adult life living outside of the UK, he is still an avid Manchester City fan.

2. What inspired you to become a writer?

It was just something that I always wanted to do, but until I left my corporate role I simply didn’t have the time.

3. Tell us a bit about your new book.... what is it about?
The book follows the journey of Sean McManus, a business journalist who becomes intrigued by the CEO of the world’s biggest company. Following his instincts, Sean uncovers a complicated web of corruption and deceit behind the company, something which puts him on a collision course with its deadly CEO. The investigation starts in London, but events soon take over and Sean is drawn to Bangkok, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Italy and Austria, during his search for information.

4. Is it part of a series? Are you planning any more books?
At the moment it isn’t part of a series. I’m working on another, unrelated title, but I may come back to the main characters of this book sometime soon.

5. Who do you think will enjoy reading the book?

The book is aimed at people who enjoy crime/conspiracy/espionage thrillers. It is plot driven and once the characters and plot are introduced, it moves at a fast pace, through lots of interesting locations.

6. Which authors, dead or alive, inspire your writing?

I enjoy reading all books, but my favourite authors would be Ben Elton, Bryce Courtney and Ken Follett.

7. Name your 3 favourite books and why?

Ben Elton – The First Casualty: A good story, well told, with a resonating principle behind it … the folly of war.

Bryce Courtney – The Power of One: A great read, with truly interesting characters that make you root for them all through the book.

Ken Follett – The Fall of Giants: Real history, surrounding the fictional stories of interesting characters, which bring the reality of intra-European war to life.

9. When is your book available to purchase and from where?
In digital form it is available from 25/7/14 at all major digital sellers, including Waterstones, Amazon & Apple, and from my distributors website: www.ypdbooks.com £3.99

In paperback it is available from 29/7/14 from www.ypdbooks.com and it will be available shortly thereafter on Amazon. £7.99. It can be ordered in any Waterstones store and will be for sale in selected other stores in September 2014.

Thanks very much for your time Peter. We have thoroughly enjoyed talking with you and reading Incorporated Evil!
