My Domino by Roy Cross

September 8, 2017

"It all began when a small female black and white emaciated cat, hungry and wet through after a fruitless search for food, dragged itself across the narrow alleyway and through the stage door of the closed Brenchworth Theatre Royal one dark, rainy Friday afternoon in winter."

So begins this unusual murder mystery.

When lonely spinster, Patricia 'Patti' Lewin follows the cat and decides to help it and it's four newborn kittens, she can have no idea that she is about to get caught up in a murder investigation.  But that is exactly what happens when Detective Inspector Grey asks for her help.

At the same time, Patti develops a strong bond with the cat, christened Domino on account of it's black and white fur.  So strong in fact, that she is sure Domino not only understands much of what she says and thinks, but also, in it's own way, provides answers to her questions.

Set some 30 years after the end of World War II, My Domino will appeal to anyone who enjoys a good, suspenseful story with lots of twists and turns.  If they happen to love cats too, well they're sure to adore it.

My Domino is the first story in a planned series of six.  The second and third instalments are also now available on Amazon.

AUTHOR BIO

Roy Cross was born near Blackpool.  The family moved to Cheshire in 1935, where a village primary school was followed by grammar school at Stafford during the Second World War, and then at Macclesfield.

In his youth, Roy wrote pantomime sketches for amateur shows which were performed in the local village hall.

Professionally, Roy held a variety of jobs including salesman in a West End toy shop, theatre usher, hairdresser and teacher.  Later in life he undertook further part time studies in law, psychology and English.

Having had articles published in the past, at the age of 86 Roy has now completed four of his Domino stories, three of which are now available on Amazon, with the fourth to be released soon.

A great lover of animals himself, Roy has found that people can communicate with them if their love is strong enough.
