“An extraordinary memoir of growing up in Aleppo in the 1980s, evoking in rich and painful detail the bewildering rituals, rights and wrongs of a Syrian childhood, the smells and sounds, the kindnesses and abuses, friends and monsters.” – Andy Croft
From Aleppo Without Love is an autobiographical novel set in Aleppo, Syria, where the main character was born and raised up to the age of 18.
The novel is split into three parts, each one covering one of the three different houses in which Amir lived during that time.
Overall, the protagonist finds himself in a contradicting, brutal to children, hateful and constantly violent familial milieu.
