Bridget Jones' Diary For Men! By D.C.J. Wardle - @DCJWardle

December 10, 2014

D.C.J. Wardle is the author of the humorous novel, Trading Vincent Crow and its sequel, Vincent Crow: Export. Holding post-graduate qualifications in development management as well as community water supply engineering, over the past fourteen years, he has worked in developing countries in Africa and Asia, managing emergency and development programmes. Last January, he was named author of the month on www.lovewriting.co.uk.

Inspired by the amusing story of an American man who once offered a paperclip to the internet for swapping and ended up claiming a house, D.C.J. Wardle created the character of Vincent Crow, who had a similar goal. In the story, Crow decided that he himself was going to start of as that piece of 'tat', and jump from one job to the next; he would trade one lifestyle for a new one, until he was finally a success. The procedure was that every three months he would have to trade-up for an entirely new life, a new job, a new girl, new wheels, and whatever else came to be of his importance, until he reached the top. Within the novel, Crow quickly learns what the price of success really is. An education he would never have received if he had gone to college!

Barely a year later, Wardle published the well-anticipated sequel to Crow's story. In Vincent Crow: Export, join him in exotic Asia with his girlfriend, and his grandma...
This time, Vince's unique approach to self-improvement has inspired him to journey east. He throws himself into the unknown Asian business world. The cascade of disaster that fills Vince's approach to personal advancement means that this new chapter of his life is anything but straightforward. Not forgetting that Vince has the added complication of bringing his nan along for the adventure, which may not be the most astute decision that he has ever made...

D.C.J. Wardle says: The first Vincent Crow book plays out in a number of locations in the UK, and by the end Vince gives the impression that he is starting to cope a bit better with his social ineptitude. I decided it was high time he was taken out of his developing comfort zone and set him some real challenges, as far from home as possible... I have travelled to and worked in a number of Asian countries, and so in writing this book I've enjoyed the opportunity to draw from my wanderings and create the background against which Vince's new adventures unfold.

Amazon.co.uk has collected a wonderful array of praise for Wardle:

"An absolutely brilliant premise. The story draws you in and keeps you turning the pages! If you want a thoroughly enjoyable read that will make you think and laugh, then this is for you!"

"I am expecting good things from D.C.J. Wardle in the future, but for now I'll just wait three months and trade up!"
