Set in the backdrop of ancient Rome... Amulet II transports this reader to that era that Nath creates by his use of vivid description throughout the book. Although this is the second book... in this series... I did not have to read the first of the books in this series to understand Amulet II. – Shannon Luster
In Amulet I, Aulus Veridius Scapula joined the Ninth Legion to fight for Rome and for his honour. An amulet, containing the secret of vast wealth, has been taken from him by his cousin, Marcus. This book sees Aulus flee Pontus to escape the returning King Mithridates, with a heart that is breaking. In Pontus he has become a little too complacent; he is comfortable, he is in love, he is recovering from his injuries. But with the return of Mithridates, he realises that he must find the amulet.
When Marcus is sent to Gaul with Caesar’s army, Aulus must follow. Fighting from battle to battle, attacked on all sides, he fails to find what he seeks and is sent back to Rome in disgrace where his search continues, leaving a trail of blood in the streets and arenas of the Mother City.
In this tale of love, battle and family honour, Aulus follows his inexorable fate.
"Packs a punch you won’t want to miss. Whether or not Roman history is your forte, Amulet II is definitely worthy of your time." - San Diego Book Review
