Caribbean Rendezvous is an exciting crime thriller, based upon an illicit arms deal due to take place on the small, vulnerable island of Dominica in the Caribbean and brings together a wide variety of interesting and colourful characters.

Patriotic Irishman, Sean Flynne, is dying of cancer and has recently lost his wife and daughter in Ireland as a result of a terrorist bomb.  He has been persuaded to travel to Dominica on behalf of the IRA with his young son and a female companion, to secretly meet with arms dealers posing as tourists from Poland.

‍

Around the same time, a Polish couple arrives in Dominica from Nigeria to teach at a private Medical School. It is clear that the husband is keen to make money by whatever means he can.

‍

A fierce hurricane ravages the island and disrupts the original plan.  In order to expedite the shipment of the arms to Ireland, local Dominicans including a politician become involved, together with the Polish professors working at the Medical School. A new plan is hatched, which also involves the shipment of a load of cadavers from Poland to the School.

‍

Meanwhile, a bright, beautiful female journalist on the island gets the idea that something interesting is brewing from her intimate relationship with the colourful and ambitious Dominican, Adrian Ellis.

‍

How will she act on this information?  Will the new plan go ahead as scheduled or is it doomed to failure?

A Cloud Over Auckland is a highly original mix of passion, sensuality, selfish and unselfish love, goodness, and depravity as it portrays the joys, sorrows and conflicts of a group of people caught up in the demands and stresses of upper-class professional life in New Zealand.  The story focuses on Anna, a woman of remarkable beauty and even more remarkable character.

David Powell, a young medical scientist newly arrived from the UK, always ready for a new conquest, notices Anna at a social gathering and determines to have an affair with her. He later elicits information about her from his Dutch friend, Herbert Volt, with whom he regularly has a few drinks at one of the city sports clubs after work. David discovers that Anna is not married to her partner, Kurt.

Herbert, when not working is very relaxed. He is a family practitioner and is married to beautiful, gentle and loyal, Moira, whom he met in Ireland during his medical studies there. Moira and Herbert have two small children about the same age as Anna's.

‍

Kurt Murler, also Dutch, an industrial psychologist often engaged in government work, has lavish offices in the city center. He is full of self importance, physically unattractive but with the belief that he is in full control of Anna who answers to his beck and call.

‍

The Murlers and the Volts go to the same Catholic church in Auckland where they met. Anna and Moira became very good friends and that secures the friendship between the two families.

‍

Kurt regularly travels on business, and David, when the opportunity arrives, tries his luck with Anna. This brief encounter does not develop into the affair that David had planned, but created no small notion of intrigue in his mind as to how this beautiful creature functions.

‍

Moira receives news that her father is terminally ill and returns to Ireland, leaving Herbert, assisted by the very capable Anna, in charge of the children.  With Kurt again out of the country, an intimate relationship develops between Herbert and Anna, which exposes the completely subservient existence Anna has with Kurt.  Horrified by the degree of this subservience, Herbert discusses it with David and the two men scheme to release Anna from her unhappy existence.

Although Anna has no wish to see her friend, Moira, hurt, she feels unable to end her relationship with Herbert, who shows her affection the like of which she has never before experienced.

‍

Does Anna have the inner strength needed to leave Kurt and strike out on her own?
